I am trying to get my Solitaire program from Win XP to run on the same machine after (?) upgrading to Win 7 HP. I am prompted that "CARDS.dll" is missing and needs to be reloaded. I searched the web but only find scams. Is this file o the original Win XP installation disk? Should I (can I) search there and reload it from there?

Should be able to find it on the XP CD in the I386 folder, i.e. D:\I386\CARDS.DL_ although your CD drive letter may not be D. Whether or not it will work under Win 7, I don't know.

Well it needs to be extracted, I use TugZip. With XP there is a copy in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder and a copy in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache folder.

With Win 7, I don't know where to put it.

A new version of solitaire should be installed with Win7... Why not use that one instead?

You could upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate and use XP mode to play the old game. Other than that you might be out of luck with with the old one.
