What happens if you try to run the application from the programs menu? I'll be willing to be you get an application not found or some sort of missing program error. If it's not in add/remove programs or whatever vista calls it, it's gone and it's a remnant in your programs list. You 'should' be able to right click and delete the item. I don't use Vista or have much exposure so I'm making an assumption there.
I try to uninstall has a message that says the program is already uninstalled, even though it is clearly shown in my programs menu.
