a friend was infected with a highjack virus " you have been infected, buy this to... " it has locked up the pc, with no access to files to run a malware remover. when booted in safe mode, will not stay booted...for a while it just looped back and shut down, now no safe mode at all. OS is XP.. ill try a boot with disk of malware, but, if that doesnt work, how to i slave the infected HD to a clean host pc in the hopes ill be able to run malware remover from the the host to clean the infected HD?

You just attach the drive as a secondary drive on the other system.

I'd make very sure that this second system is adequately protected before doing this.

I like your assumption...that you will be able to remove...whatever ails the system. If that turns out not to be the case, I suggest that you initiate a post at BleepingComputer.com - Am I infected What do I do - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum103.html .
