I've had Windows Live Messenger for years. Today the avatars of my Contacts are showing in the vertical Messenger box showing my Contacts, but when I click on the Contact, the Chat window is not showing that person's avatar, although it always has in the past.
This is true of all my Contacts.

The solution here - http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=28a84173-0ee1-449c-b6a5-71df075bb506 - is of no help.
It brought me to folders which are empty.
It's got me wondering if my Contacts were hijacked, or if the windowslivehelp info is simply wrong.

I thought I'd try uninstall/reinstall, but in "Programs and Features", I don't see Windows Live Messenger listed, although there are several other Windows programs listed.

In Add Remove programs, look for Windows Live Essentials-you can uninstall Messenger from there.

Thanks - the uninstall/reinstall worked. Unfortunately, still missing the avatars of my Contacts when I open a Chat window.

Any suggestion to restore them?
