In a move heretofore unprecedented in Internet history, Egypt's government has severed almost all Internet connectivity within the country in an effort to quell rising unrest and protests. At around 10:20PM UTC on January 27, Egypt ceased to exist as far as the global Internet is concerned though the critical fiber optic lines which connect Europe to Asia have been so far unaffected.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic376190.html

(I did not originally post in the SE. Just to clarify.)

But thanks for posting. Now I have a place to comment if/when I choose to. So long as this one stays on point and doesn't end up in the SE as well. <_<

We can make sure of that. Off topic posts here will automagically end up connected to the SE topic, without notice.

The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.

To me, it's just insane how the internet there can be going *ping..ping..ping..ping..ping* for one minute.....then it nearly flatlines the next (okay, more like a matter of roughly 10-15 minutes, it flatlines).
