Hello. I have a compaq mini that was infected with the pallidium virus. After following the instructions for removal using RKill computer rebooted and now it only starts with a black screen with a flashing dash. I cannot access anything at all. I took out the battery, still nothing. I thought I would reinstall Windows XP Pro but I get the error message that it did not find hard disk drives? Any ideas.

Thank you.

Hi Cat,

I am going to assist you with your problem.

Please refrain from making any changes to your system (scanning or running other tools, updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might interfere with our fixes. In case of making changes I shall assume my assistance is not needed any more. Thank you.

You need to use your Windows CD to build a boot cd with the PE-Buider. Please visit http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ to download and build the BartPE boot CD (go to the Getting started part). Please let me know if you could make it and could boot into the boot CD.
