Thanks for looking. I need to know a few things before I spend the money to upgrade my processor. I've found that it is possible to do this upgrade. There is one thing that I am not sure of. The stepping. My current processor is a Pentium D 915 Presler with D0 stepping, and the Core 2 Duo E6700 is B2 stepping. Is that a factor?

See below for computer specs.

Dell E520
Pentium D 915 Presler D0 Stepping
BIOS Version 2.4.0
NB P965/G965 Rev C2
Sapphire ATI 5570

Thanks

George

Should be a drop in upgrade. I don't foresee a problem.

If it was mine, I would take my tag number, head to Dell's site and see if there are any BIOS upgrades for that E520.

I am a retired Ford tech. Next to Fords, any computer is a piece of cake. (The cake, its not a lie)

The processor your gonna use to upgrade is the one i have in my gaming rig. It works really well for light gaming.

According to this, the processor should be compatible.

Thanks for your help. Looks like the person that was selling has backed out. Guess I'll have to wait on it for now, but not for too long.
