Okay here is the story:

I got hit with the Microsoft Essential Alert Virus and was able to remove it with Malwarebytes. I restarted the computer and went to try to get on the Internet like normal. I noticed that it wasnt connecting but i saw that it was connected at the bottom of the screen. I noticed that my mother's laptop was able to connect to the internet. I have scanned the computer with Malwarebytes and Macafee multiple times and to no luck in seeing if the internet connection has gotten a virus.

I dont know what to do to fix this. Can anybody help me?

P.S I am unable to system restore to before the event since I turned it off during the attack, so i could see if any viruses got in so the latest restore point is after the attack from the microsoft essential alert virus. This may sound stupid but before the attack, I was unable to fully restore from a restore point.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Make sure to check the proxy settings. Some spyware will change it.
Control panel - Internet options - connections tab - lan settings button.
If anything under the proxy setting section is checked uncheck it.
In the beginning there was the command line.

Hello, please try these first.

Please click Start > Run, type inetcpl.cpl in the runbox and press enter.

Click the Connections tab and click the LAN settings option.

Verify if "Use a proxy..." is checked, if so, UNcheck it and click OK/OK to exit.

Now check if the internet is working again.

ORGo to Start ... Run and type in cmd
A dos Window will appear.
Type in the dos window: netsh winsock reset
Click on the enter key.

Reboot your system to complete the process.

Status Update:

Neither method said by bloopme worked. inetcpl method didn't work (Couldn't even been done on my computer since it wasn't found) and the other method didnt work either to resolve the problem. Any other methods?

P.S Don't know how the move topic method works. Do I move it or does the admin people do it? Also, sorry for getting back late on this. I was at a different house when I posted the topic.
