DPS won't start

I can't figure out for the life of me how to get my Diagnostic Policy Service to come back on. not sure what to do and i've been lost for the last month trying to figure out what to do without having to re-format. maybe someone can push me in the right direction please? thank you to any and all help

Type Services.msc in the start Search box, click on the icon ....scroll down to "Diagnostic Policy". Right click, choose properties and set it to Automatic. If it's already set that way, then click to 'restart' it.

I did try to do that already and rec'd a error 1068:


"Windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service on Local Computer.

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."
