Hi All,
I was infected with a vertical tool (had - dating, pharmacy, xxx, spyware, insurance - on it). Couldn't get rid of it - hijacked my browser etcetera - you already know what this thing does - I've read the posts. I'm coming to you bass-ackwards - I followed instructions you people gave to others rather than getting an account and dealing with my own problems - typical guy - fix first, ask how later - I digress - anywho... I've done all the fixes including running Fixwareout - and running HijackThis - when it came to deciding which things to check, I cross referenced between what you had posted to your users and the .exe database at doxdesk.com database wareout I deleted and deleted some more. Well, the toolbar is gone BUT, there seems to be an installer component left that I cannot find - when I reboot, once all my system tray icons are finished loading I get four distinct flashes of the Microsoft Install rectangle in the same place they used to happen when the toolbar was still on my PC. Further, these install .exes are now interfering with other applications. I've turned off my system restore - and (like I said) I've run every bleeping program I can think of to get rid of them including: Adaware, Spybot, AVG, Stinger, Microsoft Antispyware, Ewido, HijackThis, Fixwareout, and Asquared. Because I can't find the blasted things I set up HijackThis to run when I reboot, I'd appreciate any help you might offer up - Thanks in advance - Automaton - here is the log:

Hi Automaton and Welcome to the Bleeping Computer!

Lets look a little deeper inside there and see what we see.

Download WinPFind:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/winpfind.php

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)
Here is a link on how to boot into Safe Mode:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...src=sec_doc_nam

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab

Make Sure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" has a green tick by it

Click Apply->Close->Follow the Prompts to Restart

Restart Normal and Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop:

Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement, leave [X]scan through Windows Explorer checked, click > scan then > next

You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).

Copy and paste this log in your next reply. Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from WinPFind and Blacklight.

Hello Again,

Well, I followed Cretemonster's instructions to the letter and (so far) nothing has changed - the install rectangles still flash four times as my last tray item loads (net connection (computer to computer icon)).

Thanks for your help on this - I appreciate it.

Happy Holidays,
Automaton

As per your request here are the logs:
