Have an old gateway, its a 500 P3. It had come with windows 98 when I first bought it. I subsequently upgraded to win xp. The problem is that the video is quite jerky, so if I go to youtube, the videos dont play smoothly. And when I just surf the net, the pages scroll up and down in a jerky fashion. What could be causing this?

By the way, it did this with win98 as well after four years of use

It has 384 MB ram and a 40GB hard drive

You can try removing your video drivers...then reinstalling them, but it could be video chip/card failure on the way.
