Hey guys, I believe I've got some sort of trojan running on my machine. I downloaded the HiJackThis executable and the program directed me to this website for help analyzing my results.

Here's some quick background information on what I'm experiencing:
Last night I noticed that I larger programs, mostly games, were having trouble running. It would seem like they began to start but nothing would ever load, yet I'd find the task (partially) running in the task bar. I say partially because they weren't using as much ram or CPU as normal. I restarted trying to fix the problem, and the restart took forever. I then decided to run some of my anti-virus type programs to see if they'd find anything. Spy-Bot S&D was doing the same as the video games, running but never visible on my screen, only in task manager. The components for AVG seemed to disappear and I can't seem to figure out how to turn them back on as I can't find any option to do so. Virus scans would run in the task manager but I couldn't see them. AdAware would start scanning, but the scan would freeze after a minute or so. It would still say "scanning" and look like it was, but it would be stuck on the same file and same number of files scanned. It was at that point I downloaded the HiJackThis executable, the results of the scan are as follows...

============= FINISH: 16:04:22.79 ===============

I'm currently running an ESET scan and I'm 5 minutes in, but it still says it's at 0%. I have a feeling it's having the same problem AdAware was having.

EDIT: Posts merged ~BP

Update on the ESAT Scan: An hour and a half-ish into it and the progress meter was still stuck at 0%. I realize now that I didn't specifically include what the problem with my computer is, but that is because I can't seem to run a scan properly so I can figure out what it is. Are there any other online scans that might be able to detect the problem that any of you know about? Removal of the virus isn't even necessary at this point, I just want to find out what the damn thing is so I have something to go off of.

Merged posts. ~ OB

Ok, I downloaded Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 and booted my computer with it. I updated it and then ran the anti-virus program that it has. It found a whole bunch of trojans, 80+, and I deleted them with the program. After restarting, booting to windows still took a very long time, so I suspected it didn't really work. After getting into windows, it was running a little bit better, but it still wouldn't allow me to run certain programs/games and I still could not run any sort of anti-virus. I've also downloaded malwarebytes and tried running it in and out of safe-mode to no avail. I just downloaded rkill from here and have run it twice. It runs and loads a .txt file after loading. Here is what the two results I've gotten so far say:

This log file is located at C:\rkill.log.
Please post this only if requested to by the person helping you.
Otherwise you can close this log when you wish.

Rkill was run on 01/28/2011 at 17:01:49.
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional

Processes terminated by Rkill or while it was running:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\InfDefaultInstall.exe
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\runonce.exe
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\InfDefaultInstall.exe
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\runonce.exe
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\InfDefaultInstall.exe
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\runonce.exe

Rkill completed on 01/28/2011 at 17:02:12.

I still can't run any sort of anti-virus, though. Can anyone help me out with this, please?

ETA: I also ran Win32kDiag and Peek.bat

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  • Do not run anything while running a fix.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

DeFogger:

  • Please download DeFogger to your desktop.

Double click DeFogger to run the tool.
  • The application window will appear
  • Click the Disable button to disable your CD Emulation drivers
  • Click Yes to continue
  • A 'Finished!' message will appear
  • Click OK
  • DeFogger may ask you to reboot the machine, if it does - click OK
Do not re-enable these drivers until otherwise instructed.

Download DDS:

  • Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

    Posted Image

    • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
    • Shortly after two logs will appear:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs
  • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop
  • Copy the contents of both logs & post in your next reply
