Windows XP, Dell Dimension 2400,2G ram,Zone Alarm, Secunia, Spybot/Tea Timer,Avast, Spyware Blaster,Malware Bytes, Chrome Browser, revo uninstaller. My computer now boots into sleep mode for the past 24 hours. I can wake it up, but something is amiss. I found a "file" (C:|programFiles\HP\ImageZoneExpress\HP_IZE.exe) that won't remove. I spent hours trying to uninstall and reinstall software for my cheezy HP Officejet 5610. I used the disk that came with it for an install/ uninstall/ install. I used add/remove programs @ control panel, I used HP software from their site, I used the revo uninstaller. I was never able to HP Solution Center to work properly, felt like I was making progress, but never quite got there. So after one final uninstall, I was left with the HP desktop icon, an HP entry under programs menu, and couldn't remove either. Revo tells me to search for it, but search can't locate it, it doesn't show under control panel add/remove, its not in start up via msconfig, and avast found nothing in a scan at boot. I'm wondering if this file is malware. I have the recovery console from my last issue, but have no clue what my next step is. Thanks.
