I posted this in the Windows 7 forum and got directed here by someone, so I am just going to copy and paste my original post from there.

So I was browsing through the startup in MsConfig and i came across this file or program or whatever it is. I have no clue what it is so i tried a google search on it to try and figure out what it does, and could find nothing. I believe it is running the olemainclass.dll which i could find zero references to it on google. I found that odd cuz i've always been able to just google an unknown file or process and usually find some information out fairly easily. I'm just curious what this is, is it safe? Can i disable it? Whats the best way to disable it?

Here is all the information from the line in MsConfig:
(Man i cant copy and paste it?!?!)

Startup Item: oleMainclass
Manufacturer: Unknown
Command: rundll32.ede "C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\eventWebSvcs\oleMainclass.dll",tcpWIPlay SmartnetNetM
Location: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I would appreciate any help with this very much. Thanks in advance.

I am finding varied info from,Excel,Linux
SmarttNet as an ISP.Web Hosting
tcpreplay is related to Linux/Unix
The location is suspicious to me.

Lets' upload this file for a second opinion on what it actually is..

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:
How to see hidden files in Windows

Please click this link-->Jotti

When the jotti page has finished loading, click the Browse button and navigate to the following file and click Submit.
<filepath>suspect.file

Please post back the results of the scan in your next post.

If Jotti is busy, try the same at Virustotal: http://www.virustotal.com/

I am not sure exactly how this site works so i'll do a couple things. First, here is a link to the results page, maybe you can just go and see what it says. http://virusscan.jotti.org/en/scanresult/7b4634425e5ca24c882b47bc18d3e273e22c6de6

Thats what i get when i c&p the results. Thats basically everything so you shouldnt need the link, but i'll leave it there just in case. Also there were "additional info" which i will also try to paste here.

Additional info
File size: 81920 bytes
Filetype: PE32 executable for MS Windows (DLL) (GUI) Intel 80386 32-bit

Thats everything...looks like your suspicions may be spot on. I am sure there is prolly more too it than just deleting the one .dll file so I will wait to see what further advice you can give me. Also, do you have ANY clue what this could possibly be doing to/with my system? Stealing personal information? Tracking my online activity? Keylogger? Using my computer on some sort of botnet? I have no idea and it makes me nervous.

Hello,
What is your Antivirus??
About these infections...
Trojan:Win32/Sefnit.A and TR/Kazy.5310.72 trojans that may inject itself into Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to hijack the search results for various search engines.
So basically they are spyware that will run at startup to send you ads and redirect you to ads.

Let's scan and try removing them.

Please run the F-Secure Online Scanner
Follow the Instruction here for installation.
Accept the License Agreement.
Once the ActiveX installs,Click Full System Scan
Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically.
The scan will take some time to finish, so please be patient.
When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button.
Click the Show Report button and Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
Download Link 1
Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
  • If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
On the Scanner tab:
  • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
Back at the main Scanner screen:
  • Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
  • Exit MBAM when done.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Troubleshoot Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Sorry it took so long to complete these steps and get back to you, but bleepingcomputer was down for awhile. I couldnt get on at all and then i had to work and yada yada. You asked about my anti-virus. Currently i use AVG. I have a couple of questions that maybe you could help me with. First, i am on a wireless home network. This pc is linked with another one. Should i be doing these things on both computers? Also, my phone has been acting up alot lately and running super slow, and i remember one night a while back suspecting that my google searches were being redirected or hijacked somehow. Is it possible that all this could have transfered onto my phone when i had it plugged into the computer? If so, is it possible to get the virus/malware/spyware off of a cell phone? I have an HTC Imagio running windows mobile.

I have run F-Secure. It found some Malware and Spyware, two files couldnt be removed. One of them was a NoCD crack of mine, is it possible that could be a false positive? I'm almost certain you will think not and that it should be removed, and the fact that F-Secure was unable to remove it has me wondering. At any rate, here is the log:

Hello. It is possible to infect anything connected ,,that includes cells and flash drives.
To scan all these they need to be connected and choose FULL scan.
I understand the NoCD. It will tho can detected.

I would also like to run an Online scan, injecter malware can be tricky..

How is it running now?

Please perform a scan with Eset Online Antiivirus Scanner.
This scan requires Internet Explorer,Opera or Firefox to work. Vista/Windows 7 users need to run Internet Explorer as Administrator.
To do this, right-click on the IE icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run As Administrator from the context menu.
  • Click the green Posted Image button.
  • Read the End User License Agreement and check the box:
  • Check Posted Image.
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check Posted Image
  • Check Remove found threats and Scan potentially unwanted applications. (If given the option, choose "Quarantine" instead of delete.)
  • Click the Start button.
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer.
  • If offered the option to get information or buy software at any point, just close the window.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and do NOT use the computer while the scan is running. Keep all other programs and windows closed.

-- Some online scanners will detect existing anti-virus software and refuse to cooperate. You may have to disable the real-time protection components of your existing anti-virus and try running the scan again. If you do this, remember to turn them back on after you are finished.

NOTE: In some instances if no malware is found there will be no log produced.

I'm not sure, it appears to be running fine. But i never really noticed many problems in the first place. Just a few times where it seemed like my search results had been hijacked or something. I cant believe how much i was infected! These programs are finding all kinds of stuff. Nothing has been able to deal with that olemainclass.dll yet though. Anyway here is the log for the Eset Scanner.

OK, here's what I think. I cannot find definate info on whether anything we found is an alias for oleMainclass.dll.
I cannot get good info on...C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\eventWebSvcs\oleMainclass.dll",tcpWIPlay SmartnetNetM... other than breaking it up and getting the few I mentioned above..
But this... rundll32.ede,yielded this

Information for file extension EDE: (some type of charting, maybe Excel software)
Primary association: Edraw Max
Company: EDrawSoft
File classification: Graphic
Other applications associated with file type EDE:
Ensoniq (EPS Disk Image) by E-MU Systems
The Mime types used with this association are: application/ede.

So this means to me it may be a legitimate file. It was infected. The infection was an injector type. This is what concerns me.
We may have cleaned this, but as I said I cannot prove it's the oleMainclass.dll file.

SO.. We need to be sure there are no Injectors left on here as they will only come back and spread throughout as they did already.
Since we are in a god state I want to mpve you to MRT and get a deeper look. It will be a few days before they reply ,but they will.

Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9,which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If Gmer won't run, skip it and move on.
Let me know if that went well.
