I had AV8. I have since installed PC Tools Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic. I have run both and I thought all the virus was gone. Strange things continue to happen occasionally. One is that my windows explorer sometimes will not open. I eventually have to power my laptop off in order to get out of that hangup. I know this is not good. How can I find out what the problem is? Thanks.

1) You should NEVER use any registry cleaners or utilities. NEVER.
2) Nothing you said you ran would have anything to do with ridding your system of a virus
3) If I were you I'd post in the malware forum on this site.

Click this link http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic44690.html and it gives you a brief tutorial on some basic computer maintenance, and like Allan said stay away from Registry Cleaning devices !
