Hello,

I have read about Hijackthis in the past and figure I am probably long past due to check it out. I ran the scan but I don't really know how to read the logs so the analyze this feature lead me here. I would appreciate any feedback to better understand what I'm seeing and whether there are any issues with my machine. Thanks for your time.

Hello digimath,

From this point on, please avoid installing/uninstalling or updating any programs and attempting any unsupervised fixes or scans. This can make helping you impossible.

Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt.
Please post the contents of that document.

************

Download CKScanner from here

Save it to your desktop. <=== IMPORTANT

Doubleclick CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
A message box will verify that the file is saved.
Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

************

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these places:
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti...&tag=button
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html
http://www.besttechie.net/mbam/mbam-setup.exe

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy&Paste the entire MBAM report (even if it does not find anything) in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
If I've saved you time & money,
please make a donation so I can keep helping people just like you! You can donate using a credit card and PayPal. Thank you!

Hi digimath,

Please show hidden files and folders
  • Please go to VirSCAN.org FREE on-line scan service
  • click the browse button and navigate to the files listed below in bold and put into the "Suspicious files to scan"box on the top of the page:
    • c:\Users\Ryan\Local Settings\Apps\F.lux\flux.exe
  • Click on the Upload button
  • Once the Scan is completed, click on the "Copy to Clipboard" button. This will copy the link of the report into the Clipboard.
  • Paste the contents of the Clipboard in your next reply.
  • If Copy to Clipbard does not work, then just copy and paste the output in your next reply.
If VirScan.org server is too busy, please submit the file to VirusTotal instead.

I could not navigate to the local setting folder. I believe it is a permissions issue because if I try to type the path to that folder into windows explorer it throws a permission exception. If I navigate to the directory above it, there is no Local Settings folder displayed either. I was however able to type the path to the folder that flux.exe was in and that allowed me to get to the file. Thanks.

Hi,

Looks like that file is OK.

I see no malware in your logs. :)

How is your computer running?

If all Ok, the next step will be the program clean up.
