Hi guys, this is my first time using the site and it looks great. Free help from professionals.
It's a long story, so I'll keep it short. I am an I.T student and my unlce has asked me for help. He has a 5 year old XP Home edition pc and he bought norton AV. Norton could not update any definations and he was told by Norton that it may be an intelligent Trojan and it would cost him 100 for them to remove it remotely. I ran malware bytes and spybot in safe mode and it removed over 30 trojans and a worm, but in safe mode and networking avg will not download, seems to have the same problem as norton. I decided to give him my XP professional that I had lying around, but it needed raid drivers for his raid uliraid setup, which I did not have. I got another hard drive from an old pc and ran the XP Professional over it and it installed ok, but again avg would not download, i also ran avg removal tool, as I have heard that this may remove the problem, but still no joy. Is it possible that there is a boot sector virus and this is why the problem still exits even though I replaced the hard drive? I know this may seems mad but I spent 2 whole days trying theorys with know joy.

Thanks in advanced

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
