i have a broadband internet connection.(rcn cable) i have a black modem with 3 solid green lights. one on the bottom that blinks. when the top 3 are on, the internet works. when the middle of the 3 is blinking it does not work. there is a split in the cable, one for the tv and one for the internet. when the internet does not work the tv does. i never had a problem with the tv cable. i have tried switching them and it does not work. are there newer modems out there that would enhance my connection power. lol

thanks

When the link light is flashing it is probibly that internet site is down. But the TV will not be affected. If you have VOIP (Internet telephone) will also be out.
A newer cable modem will not enhance you connection.

EDIT: Change "that internet site" to "the ISP/cable company's system". Sorry I did not catch that.

Thats what I said. Your ISP is for some reason not providing a connection.
When that light is flashing the service is not available.
When the light is solid the internet connection is present.
Next time it happens you need to get on the telephone with the cable company. They will tell you the problem, atleast Cox Cable does (My provider). You won't be able to do anything about it. You will just know the reason.
What it boils down to is when the connection is broken, do to lost of signal, there is nothing the consumer can do.
