This is a follow up to this post: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic370969.html/page__p__2078131__fromsearch__1
I have much the same problem as this guy did: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic283939.html

There are a few issues here I guess
I have a windows XP
Browse the web on IE8
Usually stick to the same 'safe' sites but recently picked up a virus of some sort.
I have run Rkill and Malwarebytes a number of times over the last few weeks in safemode (as per instructions on this site) and discovered trojan viruses each time.
But now I have something that is constant regardless of virus scanning.
First of all my computer is much slower than normal.
I've moved all my files images movies etc.. off the c drive to free up at least 7gb of space.
Run defragmenters, ashampoo... all sorts of clean up and improve applications.
This hasn't made any difference.
Initially when I log on to IE it runs ok - but much slower than normal - when webpages open, I find I have to wait a minute before I can move the page up or down, or click on the next link.
After 45 minutes or so, I find that some links will no longer respond to me clicking on them, and I have to refresh the page and then click on them.
After about an hour, the menu bar goes black - if I hover over where the options usually are 'file' 'edit' 'view' etc.. they appear.
By this stage what ever link / page / website I try to go to - I just get the 'you are disconnected from the internet' page come up. - Although my computer still tells me that I am connected to the internet, and my modem is lit up etc..
Also when I type fast on the keyboard, it seems the computer can't keep up and some keys just don't register.

Orange Blossom - thankyou for your advice.
I tried to run DDS and gather a log - but once scanning, and after some time, the computer freezes - it is possible to move the mouse around, but nothing is clickable.
Failing a few attempts at that, I moved on and got the gmer log, which is attached.
Any help would be much appreciated, and thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review your topic an do their best to resolve your issues.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit scanner. Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log
