Hello friends.

my laptop specs are:
350GB SG HDD
Intel Graphics
Windows Vista Home Premium 32
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
(It's an HP G7000)]

I have partitioned my disk to C: (10GB) and D: (250GB). Lately I have a major problem with Error 0x80070571, I cant move files, I can't copy them, or even download a picture on D:. I ve run chkdsk /r /f, no solution there. It just proceeded some index entries but that's all. I ve downloaded the Seagate tools, and I passed ALL tests (not advanced).

How can it be corrupted by passing the tests?!
My HDD doesnt acting up tho, and it doesnt make sounds while working.

Help please... If I reformat the drive will it be OK?

That error seems to be a problem with the partition structure...not with the hard drive itself. Hard drive diagnostics will not overcome/detect problems with the file structure.

My experiences with such resulted in deleting the partition and then reformatting/creating a new partition.

Thank you for the recources!

Just a question before trying a Partition Recovery:

If I backup my files on a DVD for example, will my files have problem?

Chkdsk is not working for me on my D: partition... As I said, nothing gets fixed or deleted :(

If the partition structure is goofed up (as it seems to me)...then I think it'a a bit late to worry about trying to back up anything.

The partitition rests on the hard drive...Windows and any data/programs on that partition. I can't tell you how damaged the partition might be or how to overcome it, other than deleting the existing partition.

My experience with damaged partitions (not excessive, but I have dealt with one or two) is that the partition becomes unreadable/inaccessible by normal means.

With computers...you often don't know until you try.
