I know next to nothing about computers so please use step by step and I will give all details you may need. I have a desktop and a netgear MA 101 wireless usb adapter I have used for some time. My dad installed norton anti virus on my computer last night. When I cam home today I was able to get on the internet with no problem. I re-started my computer and I get the following message when trying to get connected to our internet. " Limited or No connectivity" The problem then says windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action can not be completed "Renewing your IP address"
I also tried this. went to start run and typed in cmd. Then I typed in ipconfig/release the following came up " IP address for adapter wireless connection has already been released" then I tried to type n ipconfig/renew and then got this message " An error occurred while renewing interface wireless network connection: the RPC server is unavailable.

So now what do I do so I can connect to the internet.....

Just some possible information that is important. My dad also install norton on our main computer where we have it plugged in to a router. My dad's laptop is working fine connecting to the wireless.

Please tell me how I can get back on the internet on my computer. Thank you very much.

Hi -
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1465 MA101 Product sheet -

http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/ma101.asp MA101 - Troubleshooting Network adapter installation ...
Should have all the information you need - :)

Can you connect the desktop to the router with an ethernet cable to fully check it ??

Thank You -
A quick Edit -
You may need to disable Norton while you Re-install your MA101 -
Visit this site RA Products Uninstallers to make sure you fully uninstall your Norton -

Thanks, I will check in a little bit if that works. Just to answer your question. The computer plugged into the router with a ethernet cable works fine and so does my dads lap top that is using wireless. Just mine is not working. Appreciate the response.

okay after some more reading around. I ended up in the component services and services (local) tab. A couple of the automatic start-up types have not started they include. DHCP Client and TCP/IP NetBios helper. Now I go to start them manually and the following comes up.

for DHCP "could not start the DHCP Client service on local computer" "Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start"

for TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper i get the same error message. "could not start the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service on local computer" "Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start"

Any help would be appreciated... also i checked my ipconfig in cmd and got this.

ethernet adapter wireless network conect:
connection- specific DNS suffix: home
ip address: 0.0.0.0
subnet mask: 0.0.0.0
default gateway: (it is left blank)

anyone know what I can do please.
