Hey all,
this is my first time here :-)
I need help with this:
recently, I installed divX. boy, what a mistake !!!
I found the hard way that this S--T is bugged to the bones, so I uninstalled it.
Obviously, it left a lot of sh-t behind. Had to go into hundereds (!!) of registry keys
and remove/correct each one by hand !
After that, and making sure my PC is stable and back to normal, I reseached
which is the best player around, and selected KMPlayer and installed it.
However, here's the problem now:
A) KMplayer runs OK if you play a file that's already on my disk.
e.g. I have an AVI file, double click it and KMP plays it fine.
B) However, while browsing, if I try to see a movie
(e.g. http://tv.blinkx.com/movie/walk-like-a-man/r3_vPm9pzppOOkm3),
the browser pops a dialog saying I should install DIVX. I decline and the dialog goes away.
but then, a black screen is displayed (similar to WMP) but nothing is played.
This happens with any browser (IE, FF and Avant)
Checked this with Process Explorer and NetLimiter and they both show that the browser is actively
downloading quite fast (>100K/s). I dont know where the stuff goes.

[update/correction: it goes into temp internet files folder, as an AVI file]

To sum up, my browsers do not show movies in the KMP, nor with any other player.
I guess I changed something while cleaning the registry.
Can anyone help ? any idea will be welcome !

Thanks
Gil

Try this. a lot of us use it and it works great. Messing around in the registry will get you into trouble.
