On my home network we have a WinXP Pro box that does not have internet access (damaged motherboard- my own stupid mistake). I need to update this machine to install a program that depend upon DotNet 1.1. How can I download an update to a linux machine with the intention of moving it over to the winbox? If need be, I do have another WinXP Pro box that I can download the update to it, but I do prefer to download to the linbox.

Thank you in advance.

Go to Windows Downloads: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search....?displaylang=en
and search for it there.

If you're looking for .NET 1.1 - here's the link for it:
.NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package:

Thanks, I was able to download the dotnet framework via the linbox, but I cannot find any update packeages for XP Pro on the windows download site- even thought I agree that that must be the place for it (or windows update- which I also checked.)

Try this link for some of them:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results...&DisplayLang=en
I found it by selecting "Windows (Security and Updates) in the left hand frame - and then specifying Windows XP in the dropdown box for "Product/Technology".

Windows Update (because it's so IE-centric) makes it difficult to locate exactly what you want. Try surfing around the MS Download site looking for references to "redistributable" and for "network" versions. It's all there, it's just hard to find.
