When I right-click my desktop and select "New", it takes a few seconds to open the list. I think the problem may be that there are so many items listed, 17 in total, which seems to build up when I install new programs since a good chunk of the items are from programs I downloaded for college.

Is there a way to delete some of the items without uninstalling the programs? I surely don't need all of them. It's a small annoyance buy an annoyance nonetheless.

(I tried some searching on the forums and search engines but I couldn't quite find the right solution or an updated solution after trying so many search strings like 'desktop right click new windows 7' etc.)

I have Windows 7 home premium, HP dm3, AMD processor
