It's not a priority and it's not that important, but it's annoying and I want it gone...Unfortunately, I don't know what it is or where it came from! Here is a picture of the annoying thing:

Annoying Toolbar!

Spybot S&D is running very slowly and I have not been able to get it to run a complete scan. I have not tried AdAware. (I was running Hitman Pro but it was being VERY uncooperative so I removed it.)

Running CWShredder was causing my system to crash. I have to do a hard reboot here.

My Restart feature does not restart. It just exits Windows and sits there like a lump on a bump. The lights are on but nobody's home. I have to do a hard reboot at this point.

Something called yaemu.exe was trying to modify its registry entries every six minutes...This seems to have been resolved.

Also, everytime I try to open my Hotmail mailbox, Internet Explorer locks up and crashes. It seems to work alright in Firefox. A fix or a way to open the Mailbox in Firefox from MSN would be greatly appreciated.

I have run Autoruns in Safe Mode and deleted all undesireable products. (I Googled EVERYTHING I didn't recognize and made darn sure to only remove the files marked with an X for bad bad bad.) This seems to have stopped the yaemu.exe thing.

I'm at the end of my knowledge and need to ask for outside help. Nothing seems to be system breaking, so no rush.

Thanks!

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?act=A...e=post&id=43811
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{64F7E3AA-9205-4289-AFF0-03429A905210}: NameServer = 85.255.114.7,85.255.112.132
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{701AE803-C6CB-4801-A398-B97CF8A65B07}: NameServer = 85.255.114.7,85.255.112.132
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{AEF71BB0-FC9A-4A94-B725-1A911A235CE4}: NameServer = 85.255.114.7,85.255.112.132

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

Please do both of the following before we start if possible!:

 1) Please print off these intructions - they will be needed later when internet access is not available.
:flowers: 2) Save these instructions in word/notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found for the same reasons as above.
_____________________

:o Download KillBox here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
Save it to your desktop.
DO NOT run it yet.
_____________________

 With IE closed, run Hijack This again.
Put a checkmark on these entries and hit "fix checked":

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {2D663D1A-8670-49D9-A1A5-4C56B4E14E84} - (no file)

 Boot into Safe Mode
By pressing the F8 key right when Windows starts, usually right after you hear your computer
beep when you reboot it (some versions of windows will display 'Starting Windows' with a grey progress bar)
you will be brought to a menu where you can choose to boot into safe mode.

 Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Now put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.
Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CSOJS.EXE

_____________________

 Please Navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder. (if you cannot delete some items it's fine!)

Then go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box.
The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.f

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. m
Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.
Click Apply then OK.
_____________________

:) Empty the Recycle Bin.
_____________________

 Now post a new HJT log and tell me how your computer feels. Looks clean to me after these entries are gone.

Posted Image Congratulations! Posted Image
You have a clean Log. Sleep soundly .........after you do the following :-

Enable restore points
Turn ON System Restore.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Un-Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply
  • ClickOK.
I recommend you regularly visit the Windows Update Site , your lagging behind on a few of them!
  • Lots of Hacking/Trojans use the methods found (plugged by the updates) that have not been stopped by people not updating.
  • Update your machine, and they have one less helper, and you have one less headache!
  • Update ALL Critical updates and any other Windows updates for services/programs that you use.
  • You may find it easier to have windows automatically update! Here is a nice little article about turning on automatic updates
  • Note that it will download them for you, but you still have to actually click install.
  • Of course, you can always download updates seperately at: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Secure your web browser
  • Open Internet Explorer and click on the Tools menu and then click on
    Options.
  • Click onSecurity
  • Click the Internet icon
  • Click onCustom Level.
  • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
  • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
  • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
  • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
  • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
  • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
  • Change the Allow paste operations via script to Disable
  • Click on OK
  • Save (if asked).
  • Click on Apply button
  • Click on OK

Alternatively you could use another browser such as
Mozilla Firefox
Opera or
Netscape

Get Some Protection
The following programs are useful in the fight against Malware. Best of all, they're FREE.
Download and install any or all . Be warned though ---- Unless you keep them regularly updated you are living with a false
sense of security.
  • Ad-Aware SE - This is a
program that scans for and removes known spyware from your machine.
  • Spybot Search &
    Destroy
-Similar to Ad-Aware but more configurable and incorporates Teatime, a memory resident utility that protects the system
registry. I recommend use both of these in tandem.
  • Spyware Blaster -
Prevents the addition of ActiveX Controls on your machines by
    isolating the system registry.
  • IE_Spyad - Uses the inbuilt IE restriction policy to stop your browser
from opening web pages in a much enhanced list of undesirable addresses.
    Tutorial
A good antiviral program is essential.AVG is one of the better known, and trusted, antivirals.

And Finally.........Lock the door with a Firewall . XP comes with its own simple firewall but I prefer to substitute it with
ZoneAlarm.

Glad i could help. Spread the work of BleepingComputer!
