I tried to get the latest version of Combofix and it dl'd, but it won't start up.

I get the green bar and then nothing.

Why does Combofix insist I remove Avast but says nothing about Malaware?

Any help appreciated.

JD

Hello JD,

Have you been asked by an Expert to use ComboFix? You should not be using it on your own.

If you believe you have a Malware problem it is best to start here:

and post a topic in the appropriate forum. It would be great if you could post that link in this topic as well

Why does Combofix insist I remove Avast but says nothing about Malaware?

Usually this is because the specific program (in your case Avast) is known to detect combofix as a threat and thus blocks it.

If you have actual malware problems, I recommend you to follow the steps CStew23 pointed out.

regards, Elise

Thanks for the response.

I appreciate the warnings but I only wanted to update the version I had.

After downloading CFIX it won't start.

My question was not about having "malaware" but wondering why CFix won't accept Avast Antivirus but has no problem with Malawarebytes Anti-Malaware

Please see my previous post: some security products will interfere with combofix running, and thus Combofix warns for that.
