Hello everyone, so i want to over clock my processor, it is a P4 2.66 ghz its runing at 2.76 ghz i dont know why its runing at that speed i didnt change it. I built my pc and it has 8 fans on it so cooling wont be a problem. my motherboard is a ECS Elitegroup 848P-A7, i got 1GB od ddr400 sdram, a radeon 9600 pro video card, 200 gb hdd. And i want to overclock my processor to 3.0 ghz i have never done this before and i don't want my pc to mess up, so can anyone give me a crash course in how to do this? Thanks a lot!

Mess with your RAM dividers a little see if you can push the FSB a little more. I'm sure you can go at least a little farther. Maybe somewhere around 3.2 - 3.4 ghz...

Cruise the site that I mentioned and see what's been done. They've got an amazing list of things that have been done that'll help you out with any aspect of overclocking.

They might even still have pics of my first case-mod (I posted as c1sg back then) done with a drill, a sabre saw, some duct tape, a plastic cup, and some door insulation material. And it's still working today!
