I've browsed several forums with this issue, and cannot get a fix.

I upgraded a Dell Inspiron 1545 from Vista 64 to 7 64. Everything went off without a hitch (boy was I surprised).
Now that I have it all up and running, I cannot get my webcam working.

I have attempted to install the drivers off the Dell CD that came with the laptop. These are Vista 64 drivers, and they don't work. I have downloaded the drivers from the dell website - they are the same drivers as the CD.

Someone told me I could 'run the webcam in compatibility mode', but if the computer isn't even recognizing the webcam, how would that work?

Device Manager says the webcam is working properly.

I'm at my wits end with this. I really don't want to have to downgrade to Vista, but it's pretty important that this camera work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been searching around for a solution to your problem.
And I found this driver which is an XP driver but it should work.

Asus M4A79 Delux

ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series

Thanks for the link!

It appears to have worked half-way. I tested the webcam using testwebcam.com and it worked (YAY), but within the 'Dell Webcam Cener', which is the software I need to record video, it still says there is no webcam driver detected.

I'm not locked in to using this software. If there is another program that will do the same thing I will be more than willing to try it out. Just as long as I can record, I'm happy.
