I am having the same issue. Went to turn it on and it just keeps restarting. Tried to load windows system disk and it tells me there is a corrupt file (ASC.SYS)i cant boot from safe mode or last known good configuration. I am running Windows XP w/ a Pentium 4 Processor, computer model is a Medion MD 8084XL Not sure if it could be the hard drive. Any help is greatly appreciated.

ASC.SYS is your hard drive controller file.

Try repair installation: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/138-how-to-repair-windows-xp/
