Help re-formating my laptop plz

Please help I tried to search for a topic that could b similar but I guess there none. I got I viruslast week : backdoor:Win32/cycbot.b And it looks like it's a very bad one so I decided to reformatt my laptop I have original windows vista 32bit and I have my product software key but the problem is that I don't have the CDs to reinstall or reformat for what I have read you can copy the op sys to cd/DVD but my question is since I was supposed to do that before I got any virus would it b safe to do it know that I have the virus can I do it on safe mode. I alreay chng psswrds and stopped susing the Internet on my computer.... Help plz

if your operating system is on a recovery drive it is not likely been infected.
instructions to make a bootable cd http://www.howtohaven.com/system/createwindowssetupdisk.shtml

do not format the recovery partition as you may need it later.
re-install and rescan for virus

Thanks caperdog I did chck the link.....I'll definetly do a copy of my op sys...but while searching in my laptop manufacturerHelp options I found that I have an option to restore my c: drive to factory defaults of course it will erase everything (which I'm ok with it) and will reinstall my windows vista...... I couldn't reply let night cell run out of bttry wrong on my lptp now thnks for the reply Caperdog.
