I am trying to set up a shared drive on a machine to function as a network backup of files and folders. My problem is I want it to connect without needing a username\password to connect. I did the advance sharing thing and gave full access to Everyone and in the advance sharing options for the system I disabled password protection. yet when I go to connect it asks for a username\password when I don't want it to. what am I missing?

I am using windows 7 ultimate for this with all the latest updates.

CPU = Intel i7 950
Motherboard = Asus P6X58D
RAM = Corsair XMS3 DDR3 6X 2GB
Power Supply = Corsair AX1200W
Graphics Card = GTX 580 2-way SLI

This may be something you've already done, but you need to turn off Password Protected Sharing in both the Home / Work Profile AND the Public Profile. Have you done it in both places?
