 Hello, again... My desktop icons are not showing. The taskbar icons are there and the Windows screen saver is there, but no icons on the desktop. I clicked the "show desktop" button a few times, but nothing. To see if the icons had possibly disappeared, I used "send to" to bring up an icon from a program for which I didn't have one made... Nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
It's all in the mind.

I believe there is a setting in 7 to hide or show all desktop icons.

As Frank said, there is a feature in Windows 7 that allows you to hide and show desktop icons. Here are the steps to see if they are being shown or not.

  • Right-click the desktop
  • point to View
  • check to see is "Show Desktop Icons" is checked.

A check mark will appear, indicating that desktop icons are displayed on your desktop.
