I'm very new here, I stumbled upon this place when it became apparent to me that I was infected with some kind of virus. My problem was i was getting the "Quick Defrag" fraudulent scanner and scary messages telling me I had no hard drive, etc. I typed in "Quick Defrag virus" in Google search and you were the first hit!
I followed all the steps in your Remove Quick Defragmenter guide (ran RKill, ran Malwarebytes which found 2 infected files. Once I removed those & rebooted, when my CPU started up again, the Quick Defragmenter started up again, same problems. I repeated the steps again and this time, Malwarebytes found 25 infected files (is this unusual?) which I removed, rebooted again.
Upon restarting, I was pleased to see Quick Defragmenter did not run again, no scanner, no scary messages, etc. However, I still have the Quick Defrag icon on my Desktop, and the program Quick Defrag is still listed under my Programs. Does this mean I still have some form of this virus still in my computer?? The Uninstall for it is also there, but I'm afraid to try and Uninstall, since I had done that previously and I just kept getting errors.
I appreciate your help on this, thank you so much!!!
