During startup after user Lynn login a warning "C:Documents and Settings/Lynn/Desktop access denied" appears. Looking at the folder it appears all the desktop items in it have disappeared as well. Has this machine been hacked?? It was connected to the Internet at the time, and went into sleep mode(laptop) and when restarted the error message was displayed. When "OK" is selected the machine comes up but without the desktop shortcuts that should be there....

Do you have any other profiles you can log into that do work?

If so scan for viruses.
