Hi Guys,

Love the forum, have learned alot from it in the last 2 years.
can't solve this problem though. it started yesterday, i let someone use my pc and when I used it later, it was running slow so I did a restart and then it only booted up to a black screen after the windows image. I tried several times still same black screen. I then booted up in safemode ( which i am in now ) ran MBAM removed some infected files ( I believe they had something to do with AVsoftware ) tried to reboot again went to the black screen again, rebooted into safemode ran AVG found more infected files some were unable to be removed. I then restored my system to an earlier date and it rebooted normally and worked fine until this afternoon, the pc crept to almost stop so restarted and back with the black screen. I am now in safemode have ran MBAM, Spybot, Hijack, and even tried the root repeal - (last time i had this problem it was a rootkit) and am currently running the eset online scanner.but here are all of the current logs i have.

thanks,

ok so I re ran all of the tools again, and did a system restore. It booted up perfectly and ran for a few hours then started acting strange( lost win32 services, usb not responding) see below for updated logs ran today. AVG keeps finding a trojan, but it cannot access it. It appears to be in my windows memory.

Look forward to any help.

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  • Do not run anything while running a fix.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Hi Gringo,

Thanks for replying. I think I have already fixed my problems, sorry I had to get that PC going rather quickly.
I waited as long as I could and was going to do a full restore if my attempts were feable. I ran combofix ( I know not to do that )
As I suspected I had a Rootkit, ran that after having one heck of time trying to uninstall AVG 9 even after uninstalling and manually deleting any on the pc that had avg, it still said it was running on the machine. anyway that removed rootkit rdl3, so i thought I was good to go. PC was
still messing up and losing win32 services and then just not responding and redirecting web searches. then I happened to try TDSSkiller and it
found the problem another rootkit, this time rdl4. I install new antivirus (F-secure ) and pc has been running like new for the last couple days.
Do you think I still need to run these logs? would you like me to post the combofix and tdsskiller logs?

sorry for moving ahead but after not hearing something after a few days, didn't know you guys were that far behind.

Thanks and let me know if I should do more.

William

Sorry Gringo,

was at work the other day when I replied and then forgot to post when I got home.
here is the combo fix log and the TDSSKiller logs. Question - do you know how to avoid
these root kits? this is the 3rd one I have gotten in a year I was using AVG until
the uninstall issue when trying to run Combofix,my ISP offers free use of F-Secure which I am using now.
Is that one any good?

Also removing the rootkits, I have unistalled old versions of Java and updated to version 23.

again Thanks, this site is so helpfull and you guys are awesome to do this for us folks.
