2 days ago, my EHD started getting disconnected frequently for no apparent reason. From "this usb device can perform faster..etc" to "this usb device cannot be recognized" and now It's not appearing anymore in my drive list. But I hear this sound when you connect a usb device everytime i plug it in, and then hear the disconnecting sound right away afterwards. This repeats every after a set amount of time.

System manufacturer and model?

Have you tried removing all USB controllers...and then rebooting?

Do you have USB 2.0 support?

Does the drive have its own power pack?

More info on the drive...manufacturer, model?
