Whenever an attempt is made to log into my pc, I receive an error stating "windows recovery error" ... windows did not shut down successfully.

When I log into regular mode I receive a blue screen with following technical info listed:

***STOP 0x00000116 ()x9FF3C008, 0X8C018650, 0,00000000, 0,00000002)
*** nvlddmkm.sys - Address 8c018650 base at 8c001000, Datestamp 49e403b7

collecting data for crash dump

I attempted to download windows vista back to the computer, but that did not work. I am assuming that I have some sort of virus but am unsure. Is there anyway I can find out what is causing the problem?

Seems to be an issue with display drivers.

If possible, I suggest logging into safe mode and attempting to uninstall the current video drivers, then rebooting and reinstalling the video drivers.
