The Vista 32bit Operating System is stuck in a boot loop. I have ran chkdk /f /r and everything is fine.

I also did the following:

bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
c:
cd boot
attrib bcd -s -h -r
ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
bootrec /RebuildBcd

Then I select the OS on partition and everything should work fine. The mbr had been fixed and the also fixboot with still no luck. I am able to use the cmd.exe tool within the vista recovery disc and can see the latest updates in the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder. There is an event log file and it shows the latest updates were Windows Defender? I am not sure how to delete the updates (patches). I read up a little and tried a similiar task by accessing the windows\winsxs and deleting the pending.xml file but there is no pending.xml file?

This is really got me stumped? I do not want to do a fresh install. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Thanks
