I am writing you from safe mode with networking. I was downloading an article from Newsleecher and when I opened it my computer went haywire! (not even porn, honest!) it was an article on adobe cs3. Anyways, next thing I know I have Pop ups, four or five explorer pages opened giving me links to credit scores and travel sites. My CPU shoots up to 100% usage and I keep trying to END PROCESS these wacky pages to get through to my fighting software. I immediatly tried to pull up search and destroy but it wouldn't update and when I ran it it said I was fine. I forced my way on to trend micro but everytime I try to download the housecall my download manager tells me trend micro has canceled it. in fact, any attempts at downloading behave the same way.

Now, in safe mode I brought up your site. usually I am able to walk myself through it with your tutorial and clean my system but not this time. I can't even download the dds program on the first step. So, I need some help. Please give me a hand. I am confused how anyone can interrupt my downloading. Okay, hope to hear from you all soon. Thanks

Cap C

Edit Entered 2:07 pm Pacific time.
I was finally able to download the programs you recomended on your tutorial. I will go ahead and attach the logs. I have noticed that my windows updater, ad-aware, and RKunhooker all error out for some reason or another.

Well, after about six hours of reading post and tweaking I got it back to normal. So you can close this post unless you want to walk me through looking at my scans, but for now it looks like everything is working just fine. Thanks for Being here BLEEPING COMPUTERS! just being able to read about other peoples problems gave me the bits of knowledge I needed to figure out my issue.

Thanks Again

Hello I was wondering if you ran this?

Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!
Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe (v2.4.0.0) from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.
  • Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
  • If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it.
  • To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.
  • Click the Start Scan button.
  • Do not use the computer during the scan
  • If the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.
  • If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.
  • Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
  • A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).
  • Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.
