No error message in the event log, but the computer freezes. This is a hardware problem or software?

Could be both. What was installed/changed between the time the computer was working and now? If nothing changed, you could be looking at a hardware issue.

Any correlation between whatever you are doing...and the freezes?

Check the system for basic maintenance (chkdsk /r, cleanliness, fans working properly, etc.)?
