Hello,

I know that WinRar can compress the file only one time, and no more!
Do you know any program that compress the archive two times, cause I heard about this?

Thx for any suggestion? :)

Regards,
Max

Well, compressing twice with the same algorithm doesn't achieve anything, but there are programs that claim to use multiple optimized compression methods according to file types. I've just downloaded a free one to try on images and see if it works as claimed, they also have other compressors that you could trial:

Hi,

Thx for reply! :thumbup2:

Does this works with .rar archive?
I would like to compress the game, to burn it on single DVD 4.5 GB support?
By the way game is 9.5 GB, and is it possible?

As I see this only works Office File Compression, Image and E-mail Compression!

Max

Yes, it doesn't look like their software would suit your purpose, unless the game used a lot of images that could be hugely compressed before going into a .rar archive.

How much any particular type of file can be compressed is hard to predict, some that are almost completely random can hardly be compressed at all by any technique. Programs like WinRar generally use some type of Huffman coding, but files with differing content will compress to the maximum possible using different techniques. Extreme compression is also likely to take inordinate amounts of time.

How much can you reduce the 9.5 GB with WinRar?

Time doesn't matter, it may work as it needs, there is no problem for me!

As I said, the normal file is 9.5 GB, and after first compression it will probably be around 6 GB at best compression
I would like to compress it so it can can be burned at single DVD of 4.7 GB, the MAX file on DVD is 4481 MB!

Max

I am not sure there is an application that will compress 9.5 to something under 4.4. I would suspect that the more times you attempt to compress a file, the more chances for errors, especially if you use multiple methods of compression, and then have to revert the process in some sort of established order.

OK, thx for your replies, I'll try to find something
My friend told me for the program that that supports double compression, but he can't remember
I'll try to find something on my own!

Max
