Well basically my computer won't read any disk I insert into it, it used to only play certain one's but now it's not playing any it doesn't even seem to react that the CD is in the drive. I've already tried disabling and enabling the drive.

Its sounding to me that either your laser is failing or the laser lens is dirty.

The fact that it read disks and then it didn't was a good sign the failure was starting to happen, but now its reached its peak.

Its time for a new drive, if a CD drive is your preference, those would be selling for an average of $20.00 or less in USD brand new.

Go for a DVD burner drive if your motherboard can support one.

Bruce.

You're welcome.

Sorry I could not provide you with an easy fix, but these drives are so inexpensive these days, repair is not cost effective anymore.

Best option is to simply purchase a new drive.
