I'm running Windows XP, with all the latest MS updates. I try to keep my machine clean, and I check the task manager regularly to see what kind of junk has been installed by whatever I've been playing with recently (I'm looking at you, Apple). Anyway, I found this process called C0130mon.exe. Google points to a few web pages that claim it is a virus, but my AVG installation doesn't detect it. A couple days ago I manually deleted the file and all registry keys that reference that name. Now it is back. Of course Windows is constantly re-installing new drivers for any USB device I have, and I wasn't paying close enough attention to see if the re-occurrence corresponds to one of those.

I'm not having any obvious symptoms/problems aside from the file being mysterious.

Does anyone know if this is malware, and if so, what I can do about it?
Thanks.

Anytime you come across a suspicious file or you want a second opinion, submit it to one of the following online services that analyzes suspicious files:In the "File to upload & scan" box, browse to the location of the suspicious file and submit (upload) it for scanning/analysis.

System Explorer indicates c0130mon.exe is related to Creative Technology Ltd.

Determining whether a file is malware or a legitimate process usually depends on the location (path) it is running from. One of the ways that malware tries to hide is to give itself the same name as a critical system file. However, it then places itself in a different location (folder) than where the legitimate file resides and runs from there.

Jotti's said it's clean, and it makes sense that it would be related to my Creative Labs USB camera.
Thanks for the quick help!
