Running XP Media Center Edition on a Packard Bell i-Media 5070 with 4g Ram, fully up to date. Not particularly computer literate, bear with me…
Been getting quite a few BSODs just lately with various error messages including Page fault in non-paged area, IQL less than or equal (?) and so on. Also had lots of problems with Media Center, tv not loading, remote not working etc. Reloaded Net 1.1 and reinstalled Media plenty of times.
Checked through various old posts and investigated. Pretty sure it’s not overheating, or RAM. Drivers are not all up to date but this seems to depend on which free scan I use. Had a nasty root virus thing a few months ago but it’s definitely been removed with TDSS killer and Malewarebytes. Suspect it might have left a few errors.
Did a non-windows driver cmd scan thing and came up with BSOD with the following error:
IO System Verification Error in RapportKELL.sys (WMD Driver Error 226)
Used the free InstantSpywareRemover download program to try and repair the Registry. It comes up with one Registry fault but it can’t repair it, with the following error:
Access denied System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Some driver scans identify out of date drivers in IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, std dual channel, looks like something to do with CD rom and a few other bits and pieces.
Currently running fine in Safe mode. Your help would be appreciated, nothing too complicated please! If I have to provide a log please tell me exactly how to do it!
