Here's the problem: Everytime I log into my screen name, the computer restarts. However, when I log into a different screen name this doesn't happen. Though, after I successfully log in the other screen name, a pop-up comes up directing me to this site every 5 minutes: http://www.ad-w-a-r-e.com/cgi-bin/PopupV2?...ED6}&AD=Revenue

I have used Lavasof's Ad-Aware SE and SpyBot S&D and removed all the spyware I could. I think I made my problem worse!

windows\system\awmd532.dll <-- could not be removed with spyware removal software

I have a hijackthis file. Ever since my brother installed this stupid version of AOL Instant Messenger that comes with WildTanget I've had these problems. Could somebody please tell me what else is going on and explain how to fix this mess?

-Thank you very much.

I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://minisearch.startnow.com
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {AA99A2C4-C53A-484C-BBEA-BC953876B88C} - (no file)

O4 - Global Startup: AdsGone 2003.lnk = C:\Program Files\AdsGone\adsgone.exe

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\Program Files\Games\tbGame.dll

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and Download VX2Finder from this link:

http://tools.zerosrealm.com/VX2Finder(126).exe

or

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/VX2Finder(126).exe

Run Vx2Finder and click on the *click to find VX2.BetterInternet* button. Then click *make log*.

Copy and paste the contents of the log into your next reply here along with a new hijackthis log

I wasn't sure what you meant by "delete these files or directories". What files do I need to delete and what are their complete directories?

I just wanted you to delete this file:

C:\Program Files\Games\tbGame.dll

Sign off and stay off the internet until the entire procedure is complete.

Open VX2Finder and click on the *click to find VX2.BetterInternet* button.

Put a checkmark next to each item
Then select the *Delete these files* button.
You will be left with notice about one to be deleted on reboot.
It will ask to reboot on deletion of the last file (Reboot)

Once back in Windows

Open VX2Finder again and click on these buttons in the right pane:

user agent, Guardian.reg, restore policy

Exit and reboot.

Run Vx2Finder once more and click on the *click to find VX2.BetterInternet* button. Then click *make log*.
Post it here with a fresh HijackThis log please.

Ok, there exists no file by the name "tbGame.dll"

Look at my latest log files above:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\6uo4svc.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\akd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ayd.dll

-- these were the only files found by vx2finder126.

So, now what?

Not yet -- will I need to delete these files?:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\6uo4svc.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\akd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ayd.dll

And follow those same steps you outlined previously? I have not deleted anything since my last log post -- take me from there, please.
