Below is what I got from hijackthis. I am not sure how to get rid of the surf sidekick popups that constantly interupt me while on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello Tamilynne,

Use Add/Remove Programs and remove SurfSideKick.

If it is not listed in your Add/Remove Programs :

click on start, run, and Copy/Paste this:

C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\Ssk.exe /u

and then press ok. It will display a code that you need to enter and after a reboot it will be uninstalled.

Note: If you do C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\Ssk.exe /u
and nothing seems to happen (there is no code), then reboot. The code should appear after you reboot.

***************************************************

Go to Add/Remove Programs thru Control Panel.
Uninstall the following if they exist:

Window Search
Win Tools
IEtools
IESearch
Windows Assistant
WindowsSA
Search Assistant
Windows Search Assistant

When uninstalling you will be prompted to insert a security code. Please do so and reboot when done.

If you do not see these two programs in your Add/Remove programs then download and run both of these uninstallers:

http://lop.com/new_uninstall.exe
http://lop.com/toolbar_uninstall.exe

***************************************************

To remove New.net please follow these steps:

1.Click on start, then settings and then control panel.

2. Double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.

3. Look through the installed programs for a program called New.Net or NewDotNet.

4. If there is no uninstall program listed then do the following:
a. Go to www.newdotnet.com/removal.html

b. Scroll down to Procedure 4 and follow the removal instructions.

Reboot your computer.

***************************************************

It does not look like you have an antivirus program on your computer. It is vital to have an
active antivirus running in memory at all times!

Click the link and Download, Install, Update and run a full scan.
http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup...ree_323a539.exe

Let it remove whatever it finds.

***************************************************

Please download, update and run (one at a time of course!)
Spybot 1.4 and Adaware SE 1.06.r1

Fix whatever they suggest.

***************************************************

If you need help running these tools, here are some helpful tutorials.
Spybot Tutorial
Adaware SE Tutorial

***************************************************

Be sure to run Adaware SE with a Full Scan in the Safe Mode.

How to Reboot into Safe Mode
tap F8 key during reboot, until the boot menu appears...use the arrow keys to choose "Safe Mode" from the menu......,then press the "Enter" key.

The following explains how to set Ad-aware's settings to perform a "Full Scan."

In Ad-aware click the Gear to go to the Settings area.

The following items should be on a green check, not on a red X.

Under the Scanning button:
Scan within archives
Under Memory & Registry, Check EVERYTHING
In Check Drives & Folders, make sure all of your hard drives are selected

Under the Advanced button, check ALL under Log detail level.

Under the Tweak button...

Some of these may not be an available option, depending on your version of Ad-aware and your version of Windows. Do not be concerned if you cannot select a certain item.

In Scanning Engine:
Unload recognized processes during scanning
Include info about ignored objects in logfile, if detected in scan
Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile
Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile
Include used command line parameters in logfile

In Cleaning Engine:
XP/2000: Allow unloading explorer to unload shell extensions prior to deletion
Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
UNCHECK: Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion

Click Proceed to save these settings. When you would like to perform a "Full Scan," switch the scan mode from SmartScan to Custom.

***************************************************

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new Hijackthis log file to this thread.
Also, please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
