Hello. I am running Windows XP on my Dell Dimension 2400 Desktop. My system is infected by the Win Defrag virus. I have run Windows Defender and Malware and I just can't remove this virus. I have removed all the files I need from this computer so I am trying now to reformat the system back to a clean slate. I have the original operating system disks. When I open up Windows Explorer I can see my c drive and all the folders and files. When I go into Computer Management to try and format my system, it doesn't recognize my c drive. When I run the operating system disk and try to do the install from the menu, it is unable to start the reformat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day.

You can't reinstall Windows from within Windows.
You need to boot from Windows CD.
