i dont have the recovery cd for my lap top...i have a xp pro cd though but the version is a little older than the version on my laptop....so it will not let me install it...i cant get it to boot from the cd either...i tried changing the Bios in setup and that didnt work either...so i'm stuck and i was hoping someone out there might have some useful info for me :thumbsup:

You can go to http://www.bootdisk.com . You can download a XP boot disk to boot from a floppy.
The reason your XP Pro disk will not install is probibily because you are using a retail or OEM disk with the COA from the laptop. The XP that come on the laptop is a special verison that manufactories are provided by MS. The OS checks the computer to make sure it is allow on that computer. The COA will not work with another type of windows.
