I have been having some problems with sound on my computer. When i start up it works fine, then about an hour later it just stops working, and wont start working untill i reboot.

This is all sound on the computer, system sounds as well as audio. however it always plays the log off sound. Even when he sound is working, it has a recurring sound every three to four seconds. this is not an extra noise, but like the sound is slowing and then returning to normal speed. this is for system (i.e. logon noise) and other music (CD's Websites)

It is really frustrating and i am not sure what is causing it
