When I turned on my home computer, I get a "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change may have caused this" message.

Also, I see that another poster is having a similar problem:

After this, there is a list of choices: Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration and Start Windows Normally. Now, if I hit enter on any of the Safe Modes, a bunch of code at the bottom of the screen appears. Then, my computer restarts. If I hit enter on either of the other two, the Windows XP loading logo thing appears, then it restarts again.

Same for me. It may be noting that I ran a piece of bleepingcomputer software to help to get rid of a process that was keeping me from installing malwarebytes, and then ran malwarebytes and installed AVG 11, yesterday. The problem turned up the next time that I booted up the computer.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
